Tai Chi
Under the direction of Shihan Carl D. Wilcox, CMA-USA currently offers a class on traditional Chen style Tai Chi, focusing currently on the first form, Yi Lu. Dr. Yongli Gao, Sifu, former president of the Beijing University Wushu Association and student of several leading teachers in China, oversees this class and visits once each month to conduct intensive study of the form and related material, including push-hands, applications, and Chi Gong.
Weekly classes are conducted by Sensei Mark Holland, who has been studying Chen style under Dr. Gao for the last few years at East Tennessee State University.
Chen style Tai Chi is the oldest style of this internal Chinese martial art, and the Yi Lu form offers the opportunity for study of a unique style of movement and application which can not only benefit one's general health and well-being but can supplement and inform the practice of other martial arts, including karate, kobudo, and ju-jitsu.
Tai Chi class meets on Fridays from 11:30 to 12:30.
